Vallarta Botanical Gardens
Just 30 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, and taxi accessible, or you can take the special “El Tuito” bus, the gardens feature an assortment of wild flowers and insect life. It’s a relaxing and romantic getaway from all the hustle and bustle. Open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (hours vary); closed Mondays April−November. Admission is 80 pesos ($4 USD) per adult and 20 pesos ($1 USD) for kids ages 4−12

Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe
The church’s silhouette in downtown Puerto Vallarta is a definable image coupled with the recognizable sound of chiming church bells. La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe is open daily. English services are held on Saturdays at 5 p.m.; Spanish and English mass takes place every Sunday at 10 a.m. The bells ring 30 and 15 minutes before each mass.

Los Arcos and El Malecón
An iconic, recognizable Puerto Vallarta landmark, Los Arcos refers to the row of arches in the oceanfront square of Plaza Morelos on the city’s southern end. The dramatic seaside arches also serve as an amphitheater. Los Arcos is also great for strolling during evenings, especially along the Malec&oaute;n oceanfront walkway running along part of Bahia de Banderas (Banderas Bay). There’s an assortment of sand sculptures, statues, art pieces, street performers and merchants.

The most popular shoreline in Puerto Vallarta, Playa los Muertos (Dead Man’s Beach) in the Zona Romantica offers opportunities to jet ski and windsurf, play beach volleyball, people watch, and enjoy an assortment of excellent restaurants and bars.
