Entry Requirements - Your trip to Mexico requires a passport.
Language - Spanish is the official language, but English is primarily spoken in Cancun.
Time - Cancun is Central Standard Time (CST).
Money - The Mexican peso is the local currency. ATMs are widely available in most resort areas.
Weather - Cancun is generally balmy year-round, but humidity is high mid-summer, giving way to late-afternoon thunderstorms. Average Fahrenheit temperature May−September: 82° to 83°; October−April: 81° to 80°
Water - Most Cancun resorts and hotels have purified water, but bottled water is recommended. Avoid tap water.
Transportation - Buses are safe to use both day and night. Taxis are also safe, but always negotiate your fare before entering the taxi.
Dress - Casual clothes like T-shirts, shorts and beach attire are recommended. Dressier clothes are required by some upscale restaurants and nightclubs.
Safety - Carry a limited amount of cash. Credit cards are widely accepted. Always lock your hotel room and store valuables in the safe-deposit box.

May through September tends to be hot and humid with temperatures that can top 36°C (97°F). Yucatán’s inland areas are 10 to 15ºF warmer than the coast. Rainy season is generally between the end of August and the middle of November, which brings afternoon downpours.
